Nash disease, also known as Non-Alcoholic SteatoHepatitis (NASH), is a chronic liver disease characterized by accumulation of fat in the liver, associated with inflammation and liver damage without excessive alcohol consumption.
It is often linked to factors such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, or high blood pressure. Fat accumulation in the liver can lead to inflammation, which can progress to liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and eventually liver cancer.
There is no treatment for Nash disease. The only intervention mainly aims to reduce the accumulation of fat in the liver, through radical lifestyle changes, the adoption of a suitable diet, the reduction of the causes of stress and the resumption of regular physical exercise.
