You eat better than you used to. You make the effort. And still something does not add up. Tiredness that will not lift, a belly that swells after meals, energy that goes up and down, sugar cravings at the end of the day. You are not alone, and it has nothing to do with willpower.
I have coached hundreds of people over the years. Behind these scattered symptoms I nearly always find the same thread: low-grade inflammation, the silent kind. It does not hurt. It wears you out, it upsets digestion, and it scrambles your hunger and your sleep.
Why your belly swells
Useful inflammation, like the kind around a cut finger, switches off once the job is done. Trouble starts when the signal stays on. Sooner or later it reaches the gut. The lining becomes more permeable, poorly digested fragments slip through where they should not, and the immune system reacts.
Bloating is one of the first signs of that state. Once it settles in, inflammation feeds itself. Your body grows less sensitive to insulin, blood sugar swings, and hunger stops being a signal you can trust.
So what should you eat for bloating? Start with what you take out. Your plate either feeds that loop or breaks it.
The oil that is everywhere
Industrial seed oils are one of the key pieces. High in omega-6, nearly always refined and heated again and again, they produce oxidized compounds that feed inflammation. They are in fried food, in sauces and in almost every ready meal.
Ultra-processed foods push in the same direction. Emulsifiers, some sweeteners and preservatives thin out the microbiome and make the gut more permeable. And alcohol raises inflammation, dehydrates you, disrupts sleep and brings the cravings back the next day.
That is only part of the picture. The Totem Reset deals with other food groups, some you would never suspect because they have always been sold as healthy.
The case of corn
Corn shows that not everything is black and white. Where it stands during the reset is not what you would expect, and the guide explains why.
That kind of detail is the difference between a generic list from the internet and a method that works on your plate.
It is not your fault
If you give in despite your best intentions, it is no accident. The industry even has a name for the perfect mix of sugar, salt and fat that makes you reach for the next bite: the bliss point. It does not exist in nature. It was built in a lab.
The industry has also learned to talk health. No added sugar, high in fiber, source of omega-3, plant-based, gluten-free. These labels reassure you, but they say nothing about how processed the product is. A yogurt sweetened with agave syrup gets sold as probiotic, and a bar with six kinds of sugar gets sold as a fitness snack.
You are not weak. You are exposed.
Take away before you add
The Hadza of Tanzania are one of the last hunter-gatherer peoples. No farmed grains, no processed food. Their microbiome is very rich, and chronic metabolic disease is almost absent. The point is not to live like them. The point is to see that your body still runs on the same laws.
You do not force the body to get better. You remove what stands in its way. And nothing you remove is banned for good. The method exists precisely so you find out what works for you.
The Totem Reset is not a diet. It does not count calories. It gives you the whole path: what comes out, what stays, in what order, and how to watch what changes. The guide is €12, or part of the complete Library of all seven guides for €39.
When I choose what goes on my own plate, I stick to these foods. I am not asking you to do the same.
Your body knows how to heal. Give it the chance.
